- Mini Dapps can be accessed directly in LINE Messenger, as well as through Dapp Portal
- 30 Mini Dapps, from more than 800 applicants, selected for the first round
LINE NEXT Inc., LINE’s venture dedicated to developing and expanding the Web3 ecosystem, together with the Kaia DLT Foundation (Kaia), today announced that they will launch a selection of “Mini Dapps” and the Dapp Portal in the first quarter of 2025. Both the Mini Dapps (Decentralized apps) and the Dapp Portal will be accessible directly from LINE Messenger.
With Kaia Foundation, LINE NEXT selected 30 Mini Dapp projects under the Kaia Wave program to support Web3 developers and bring their Kaia-powered Dapps to LINE Messenger. Kaia Wave is a program jointly prepared by LINE NEXT and the Kaia Foundation to support global Web3 developers in the Kaia ecosystem. A total of 800 teams have applied since applications opened in September, with 30 of those teams selected in the first round.
LINE NEXT and Kaia plan to choose more than 150 teams in the first half of next year and more in the future. A detailed list of those projects will be available on the LINE NEXT’s Dapp Portal channel on Medium (https://medium.com/@Dapp_Portal) and the Kaia Wave website (wave.kaia.io).
The selected teams include:
- Bombie, developed by Pluto Studio, whose mini-app project attracted 43 million users in just six months and achieved No.1 in sales volume
- Shin-chan’s Match Daily, a mini game based on the famous animated series Crayon Shin-chan
- Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- on LINE, a game based on the popular soccer manga Captain Tsubasa
- Heroic Arena, an ACG (Animation, Comics, Game) style idle clicker mini Dapp where players will use heroes to battle in the immersive multiplayer online battle arena universe
- Superz, a healthcare and wellness gateway Dapp for non-crypto users, seamlessly blending fitness habits and tangible rewards
Each team will receive a software development kit (SDK) for developing Kaia-powered Dapps, as well as a variety of support programs including fee delegation, co-marketing activities, and a diverse range of investment opportunities from Kaia Wave. Based on this support, developers will develop Mini Dapps that can be linked directly to LINE Messenger or launched on LINE NEXT’s Dapp Portal starting from the first quarter of 2025.
Dapp Portal is a service that enables users to discover and download Dapps, using them directly from LINE Messenger, get rewards for using its services, and trade virtual assets. Through Mini Dapps and Dapp Portal, LINE NEXT aims to provide a service experience that eliminates the barriers to Web3 services with excellent accessibility and convenient, easy-to-use services.
Furthermore, LINE NEXT unveiled its software development kit (SDK), a developer platform that enables companies and projects to easily develop and distribute Mini Dapps based on the Kaia chain. LINE NEXT’ s objective is to realize a true popularization of Web3 services by supporting not only the developers selected by Kaia Wave, but also other developers looking to create Web3 services.
“LINE NEXT has been aiming to increase access to Web3 services from the perspective of both internet and Web3 users and developers,” said Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT. “We plan to introduce the largest number of Web3 Dapps and expand our user base, especially in the major LINE Messenger countries of Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan.”
“Kaia has been committed to creating a highly accessible, user-centric Web3 ecosystem,” said Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia DLT Foundation. “We are excited to provide such a convenient Web3 service platform within the LINE messenger. Kaia will continue to innovate blockchain Tech and services to accelerate Web3’s adoption in Asia and worldwide.”
“We are very excited about LINE’s Mini Dapp and have high expectations for its potential,” said David Mak, CEO of Pluto Studio. “Starting from Bombie, we plan to launch a variety of mini games within this ecosystem.”
