Dr. Chaklam explains, “Advanced image recognition algorithms are now accurately and rapidly sorting recyclables, thereby boosting recycling rates and reducing landfill waste. Furthermore, AI-powered sensors and drones are optimizing agricultural practices by monitoring soil quality in real time, leading to increased crop yields and reduced environmental impact.”
He adds, “Perhaps most promising is AI’s potential in mental healthcare. By combining large language models with established techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy, AI-powered systems can offer round-the-clock support to individuals struggling with depression. This integration has the potential to make mental healthcare more accessible and personalized.”
“Thailand, my home country, is also experiencing the transformative effects of AI, particularly in the tourism industry,” Dr. Chaklam notes. “AI-powered chatbots provide 24/7 multilingual customer service, enhancing the visitor experience. Predictive analytics optimize pricing and capacity for hotels and airlines, while personalized recommendations tailor travel itineraries to individual preferences. Additionally, AI is employed to manage tourist flow at popular sites, preserving cultural heritage and optimizing visitor satisfaction. Innovative applications such as voice cloning and avatar generation technology have even emerged to serve as multilingual tourism guides.”
The insurance sector is also leveraging AI to enhance risk assessment. Dr. Chaklam describes how “By analyzing digital footprints, voice patterns, and facial features, insurers can derive psychometric profiles of clients, aiding in loan default prediction and risk modeling.”
