The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and depa organized the event ‘The Success Story: Smart School Bus’, elevate Thai digital products and services with the dSURE mark. The event highlighted the Smart School Bus project, a new-generation, safe school bus, as a model for advancing the development of digital products and services by Thai entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to promote the precise application of digital technology to meet user needs. Additionally, the event featured the launch of the depa Tech Showcase, a space displaying digital products and services from Thai entrepreneurs, located at SCB NEXT TECH, 4th floor, Siam Paragon.
Mr. Suttikiat Weerakitpanich, Executive Advisor to Digital Economy and Society (MDES) Minister, presided over the opening of the event ‘The Success Story: Smart School Bus’, elevate Thai digital products and services with the dSURE mark. The event was attended by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, the President/CEO of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), along with representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and educational institutions at Paragon Cineplex, Theater 13, 5th floor, Siam Paragon.
Mr. Suttikiat, in his keynote speech on “Mechanisms for Stimulating the Digital Economy,” stated that the government recognizes the importance of driving the country’s digital economy and society through digital technology and innovation. By the MDES – depa, has been working to improve the quality of life for all Thai citizens, across all age groups, especially children and youth, who are a key force in the country’s future economic and social development.
“The Smart School Bus project, a new-generation, safe school bus initiated by depa, serves as a model for applying digital technology that meets the dSURE mark to enhance the safety of school transportation. This helps reduce incidents of children being forgotten or left alone in vehicles. The digital technology used in the project has been registered in depa’s digital service catalog, helping to alleviate concerns and build trust among parents, guardians, and schools participating in the project,” said the Executive Advisor to the Minister.
For Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon stated that the technology applied in the Smart School Bus project, a new-generation, safe school bus, includes various types of sensors such as GPS for tracking the vehicle’s location, motion detection sensors, temperature sensors, and 4G communication devices. Additionally, solutions have been developed to display relevant data in real-time via smart devices. Both the hardware and software used in this project are developed by Thai digital entrepreneurs, who have passed the screening process and received the dSURE mark certification and have been registered in the Thailand Digital Catalog.
“The Thailand Digital Catalog is one of the mechanisms to enhance Thailand’s digital economy. It compiles digital products and services from Thai digital startups and providers, helping to filter out qualified products and services that meet the dSURE (Digital Sure) marks set by depa. These marks include safety and cybersecurity standards, ensuring that data is stored domestically and is not leaked. Moreover, clear and reliable pricing is provided, in compliance with the requirements of the Comptroller General’s Department. This also benefits entrepreneurs and the general public looking for digital products or services, as expenses can be deducted up to 200% for tax purposes,” said the President/CEO of depa.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon mentioned that currently, 10 devices have been certified with the dSURE mark, and many more devices are awaiting registration. Meanwhile, over 400 products and services have already been registered in the Thailand Digital Catalog by entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the event featured a presentation on the topic of “dSURE” Marks for Elevating Digital Products and Services by Dr. Supakorn Siddhichai, Group Executive Vice President, Digital Technology and Innovation Development Unit at depa. There was also a panel discussion on Improving the Quality of Life for Thai People Through Technology with panelists including Mr. Julanop Santipong, Vice President, Digital Trade and Industry Development and Promotion Department at Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), Ms. Taksaporn Rakyu, Expert in Procurement Systems Development at the Comptroller General’s Department; Mr. Kongphan Chamarat CEO and Founder of Articulus Company Limited, Mr. Amarit Franssen, CBDO and Co-Founder of Appman Co., Ltd., and Mr. Nithikorn Bunyakulcharoen, Product Manager at Metamedia Technology Co., Ltd.
Additionally, Siam Piwat Group and depa join to open a space for showcasing digital products and services from Thai entrepreneurs, called the depa Tech Showcase, located at SCB NEXT TECH on the 4th floor of Siam Paragon. This allows the public to purchase certified and reliable digital products or services. At the same time, it serves as a consultation space for providing advice on the application of digital technology to all sectors.
