Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) for strategic cooperation on the research and development of smart port, 5G port and green port technologies. The partnership also aims to upskill talent in preparation for digital transformation.
Mr. Kevin Cheng, President of Thailand Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd, stated: “Huawei, as the leading global provider of information and communication technology infrastructure and smart devices, is committed to bringing digital technology to every person, every home, and every organization for a fully connected intelligent world. This goal can be achieved through expansive cooperation with different partners in our ecosystem. This is the first time for Huawei to establish this strategic MOU with the Port Authority of Thailand. Through this partnership, Huawei will support the transformation of Thailand’s port industry to the digital era over the three-year term specified in the memorandum. The cooperation will focus on the joint effort to research and establish Port Digitalization, 5G Port, and a Green Port, as well as to upskill talent knowledge and skills through a variety of learning and training activities.”
Mr. Kriengkrai Chaisiriwongsuk, Director General, Port Authority of Thailand, said: “This partnership agreement will facilitate the government and private sectors in working together to bolster each other’s strengths. We also intend to enhance existing business cooperation, develop solutions together, and extend our corporate relationship to create cutting-edge innovation for Thailand’s port and logistics industry. The scope of this MOU includes the joint exploration of digital services to develop a ‘World Class’ smart port in Thailand, and collaborations with business partners to educate and migrate talent skills and services.”
He added that the Port Authority of Thailand and Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. aims to establish a strategic collaboration to research and develop a smart port, which applies 5G technology and sustainable innovations. The parties are also seeking to extend their business collaboration in other areas, including a joint effort to enhance existing solutions and create new cutting-edge technology that can be applied to the port and logistics industry in general.
The Memorandum of Understanding for strategic Cooperation between Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and the Port Authority of Thailand was signed by Mr. Kevin Cheng, President of Thailand Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Mr. Kriengkrai Chaisiriwongsuk, Director General, Port Authority of Thailand, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on the 25 October, 2022.
