Huawei collaborates with the NCSA to host the Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2022 competition to increase the capabilities of Thai digital talents and strengthen Thailand’s cybersecurity

Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. collaborated with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) to establish the Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2022 competition, with the aim of enhancing the cybersecurity capabilities of digital talents in Thailand, including among young people, government officials, and corporate employees. The project will help increase the country’s cybersecurity, create a crucial group of skilled individuals for the new labor market in Thailand, and create more awareness about cyber threats in Thailand.

Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Deputy Secretary General of the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), said about the competition: “The Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2022 competition is an educational platform for students, as well as the public and private sectors, to develop skills and gain experience in cybersecurity so that they will become key players in the future labor market. Additionally, the program will help raise awareness about cyber threats in Thailand.”

Registration for the Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2022 competition is open from September 1st to 24th, 2022. The competition will be separated into three tiers, which includes a competition for high school students, university students (under 30 years old), and government officials or corporate employees. All participants will compete in the program to enhance their cybersecurity skills.

The winner for each tier, high school students, university students, and government officials or corporate employees, will be awarded cash prizes of 128,000 baht, 150,000 baht, and 180,000 baht, respectively. There is also a 3,000-baht consolation prize, bringing the total award value to over 521,000 baht. Furthermore, the winners of this contest will be entitled to compete in this year’s regional Cyber SEA Games.

Mr. Surachai Chatchalermpun, Country Cyber Security and Privacy Officer, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. gave an interview about the purpose of the Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2022 competition: “This competition is an expansion of our ongoing cooperation and is the first joint project between Huawei and the NCSA following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cybersecurity in Thailand back in August 2022. The project aims to accelerate the development of digital skills, particularly for cybersecurity personnel in Thailand, as well as to raise awareness of cyber threats among Thai people. The competition also reaffirms Huawei’s mission to “Grow in Thailand, Contribute to Thailand” by supporting the country’s digital workforce and helping push Thailand to become an ASEAN digital hub.”
