SiS and Siemens Announce Strategic Partnership, Pushing for IT-OT Convergence in Thailand

SiS and Siemens announced their collaboration in IT-OT convergence, aiming to support Thailand to move forward with advanced industries and intelligent systems. SiS has set up a dedicated team to penetrate the market, targeting to earn 100 million Baht in 2025. Meanwhile, Siemens said this collaboration marks a significant expansion within the Thai market for Siemens, focusing on digital transformation through the convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).

Mr. Somchai Sittichaisrichart, Managing Director, SiS Distribution (Thailand) Public Company Limited or SiS, said that Thailand’s industrial sector is increasingly adopting modern technology to connect industrial machines and systems to the Internet in order to process and analyze data to increase efficiency, boost productivity and reduce costs. According to Gartner, It is predicted that in 2025, many organizations in Thailand will integrate IT-OT platforms and increasingly use connected devices to obtain data from various points in their network and improve factory operations.

The Thai government supports the transition to Industry 4.0 in accordance with the Master Plan to Promote the Digital Economy, Phase 2 (2023-2027) of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society by encouraging digital transformation in all sectors. This will help Thailand progress from traditional industries to advanced industries and intelligent systems. DEPA predicts that hardware and smart device industry will have a total value of more than 1.8 billion Baht in 2025, up 15.52% from 2024.

Mr. Somchai added that as the industrial sector increasingly use advanced technology to improve efficiency, it has led to the idea of integrating Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) or what we call IT-OT, which will allow transition to Smart Industry.
