Huawei Unveils Digital Industry Trends for 2030, Highlighting 5G, Cloud, and AI Technologies

Huawei Technologies (Thailand) unveiled anticipated key trends for digital industries by 2030, both in Thailand and globally, at the C.P. Symposium 2022 event, strongly recommending Thai industries to deploy 5G, cloud, and AI technologies in order to disrupt the sector, meet the needs of customers, and create greater business opportunities. During the symposium, Huawei also gave mention to 5G smart ports as one of the industries to keep an eye on, asl well as how trends towards alternative energy and digital power will soon replace fossil fuels, and how the seven industrial sectors will soon apply smart technologies in order to meet new consumer demands.

Dr. Chawapol Jariyawiroj, President of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., spoke at the C.P. Symposium 2022, under the theme “Shaping Industry Transition towards Digital and Green Intelligent”, explaining that: “From Huawei’s perspective, technology is driving new impacts in all industries. It is an important innovative tool that organizations must have in order to disrupt the industry and the organization itself. Even if the company’s business performance lags behind its competitors by one to two years, it can still catch up. However, if your technology lags behind competitors within the same period of time, you will not be able to keep up. Therefore, organizations should not put themselves in simliar situations or else they too will fall behind, as has happened previously when analog phones were replaced by smartphones. The main benefit of technology is that it also helps organizations to more deeply understand customer insights and needs, which makes it possible to predict what customers are looking for and to use this information to strategize the right services and products for future customer needs before they even know it.”

He further added that all industry sectors will predominantly apply 5G, cloud, and AI technologies in the upcoming digital industrial era. The 5G smart port industry in Tianjin Port, China, is a strong example, as it can handle up to 3-5 million cargo containers per year but with an operating environment that poses a high risk to human personnel. But thanks to the adoption of 5G, cloud, and AI technologies, personnel were able to remotely operate the port’s equipment from up to 1-2 kilometers away and with a stable connection speed of 1 Gbps, allowing for very low latency and supporting a wide range of connectivity areas. The automated port and remote operating technologies have enabled Tianjin Port to dramatically increase productivity and safety while cutting labor costs by 60-70% and decreasing overall operating costs by up to 10%. Now with 5G networks, one operator can remotely control up to four cranes, container transport vehicles can become fully autonomous, the speed and connectivity for all devices can be increased, and better control over operation performance can be established. 
 
Dr. Chawapol elaborated: “The direction of the industry in 2030 will include the following seven important industrial sectors: One, the public health sector, which will focus more on preventative medicine and health & wellness rather than medical treatment. This can be implemented by using technology to predict the probability of customers who may be at risk from potential illnesses, including the use of digital technologies to boost medical personnel’s ability to care for more patients within the same capability. Two, the food industry may utilize Precision Farming to improve cultivation efficiency while reducing the use of pesticides and hazardous chemicals. Meanwhile, the nutrition industry may use 3D printers to create plant-based food. Three, the real estate industry will be able to use technology to manage living space more efficeintly and make in-house equipment communicate with one another automatically in accordance with homeowner behaviors. Four, the transportation industry will focus on low-carbon autonomous vehicles. Five, the urban sector will be transformed into a smart city, where individuals will be able to access both public and private services more conveniently. Six, the enterprise sector will use intelligent technologies to improve operational processes to be more efficient. Seven, the energy sector will witness far greater developments in the utilization of alternative/clean energy.”

Dr. Chawapol went on to explain that future services must ensure specific speeds and latencies for consumers in various industrial sectors with varying usage requirements. Furthermore, computing trends in the future should be increasingly decentralized in order to accommodate a wide range of commercial uses, and digital power and sustainable energy will undoubtedly replace fossil fuels.
