Zhejiang Department of Commerce and DEPA push forward Thai-Zhejiang digital economy cooperation by bridging Jinhua and Laem Chabang Municipality to discuss on city-to-city cooperation project on smart logistics and digital service trade.
Zhejiang Department of Commerce (ZJDOC) moves forward with the Thai-Zhejiang Digital Economy Cooperation Plan by organizing the Zhejiang Service Trade (Thailand) IoT Exhibition at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. During the event, ZJDOC hosted 2022 Cooperation Dialogue for Deepening Zhejiang-Thailand Digital Service Trade between ZJDOC, the China National Digital Service Export Base (CNDSEB), Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) and Thailand Digital Valley (TDV). Jinhua City Municipality and Laem Chabang City Municipality also invited to join the online meeting to discuss the possibility of future cooperation in smart logistics project and digital service trade on a city-to-city level.
ZJDOC accelerates the implementation of the Thai-Zhejiang Digital Economy Cooperation Plan by organizing Zhejiang Service Trade (Thailand) IoT Exhibition for the first time in Thailand after the coronavirus pandemic. The event was held as part of the eBIZ Expo 2022 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, which is co-organized by N.C.C. Management and Development and the Federation of Thai Industries. Twelve leading enterprises for Zhejiang province participated in the hybrid exhibition, that combines both online and offline trade fairs.
In concurrent with the exhibition, a bilateral meeting between Thailand and Zhejiang was organized between the Zhejiang Department of Commerce, led by Mrs. Zhuang Jin, Director ZJDOC: of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, led by Dr. Passakorn Elementary, Senior Executive Vice President / CTO, (Digital Technology and Innovation Development Unit); the China National Digital Service Export Base, led by Mr. Li Chengsu, Director, CNDSEB; and Thailand Digital Valley led by Dr. Supakorn Siddhichai, Executive Vice President
Digital Technology and Innovation Development to discuss future cooperation after ZJDOC and DEPA have signed the cooperation agreement during the China International Trade in Services Fair held on September 3, 2021 in Beijing.
Jinhua Municipality, led by Mr. Xu Gencheng, Director of Jinhua City Municipal Commerce Bureau; and Laem Chabang City, led by Ms. Jinda Thanomrod, Mayor of Laem Chabang City Municipality were invited to join the meeting to explore the possibility of future cooperation on technology exchange and digital service trade on the city-to-city level with the focus on the smart logistics project as both Jinhua and Laem Chabang are major port city and logistics centers of Zhejiang and Thailand’s Eastern Economic corridor.
Mrs. Zhuang Jin, Director of Zhejiang Department of Commerce said that, “as one of the new infrastructures for digital commerce, the IoT industry is in higher position. Since Thailand is the second largest economy in Southeast Asia and is a typical example of ASEAN countries that explore and have been implementing IoT solutions to drive digital trade. Zhejiang’s digital economy has always been at the forefront of the country. It is believed that the cooperation between Zhejiang and Thailand will add vitality to the development of digital trade between the two sides.”
The Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province and the Digital Economy Promotion Bureau of Thailand have signed the “Thailand-Zhejiang Strategic Cooperation Agreement in Digital Economy and Trade in Services” at the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services in September last year.
According to Mrs. Zhuang Jin, ZJDOC will pursue the cooperative agreement with DEPA and will focus in the following areas 1.) strengthening interactions between industrial cities of Thailand and Zhejiang; 2.) promoting industrial cooperation between the Zhejiang’s and Thai enterprises; 3.) developing a trade platform between Thailand and Zhejiang such as trade demonstration zone and international trade exhibition.
Mr. Li Chengsu, Director, the China National Digital Service Export Base (CNDSEB) said that, as the only national digital service export center in Zhejiang Province, we adhere to provide extensive consultations and mutual benefit creation by complying with market principles and focusing on “One Belt, One Road” to promote international cooperation.
He added that, “we realized great importance to cooperation and exchange with the Thai market in 2020 under the strong support and guidance of the Zhejiang Provincial Trade Department. The center has been in collaboration with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency of Thailand ever since.”
This year, CNDSEB continues to actively engage in cooperation between Zhejiang and Thailand. Many leading companies such as Hikvision, Uniview, and other including the world’s leading blockchain technology, and smart home health companies attended the exhibition. “We believe the cooperation between Zhejiang and Thailand will expand. We will use the “RCEP” and “One Belt, One Road” policies to enable organizations to enter Thailand. Support and Guarantee for Economic and Trade Cooperation technical exchange and investment promotion,” he said.
