The cooperation project with Huawei will strengthen SWU’s positioning as an “Innovative University” and a digital transformation leader in the education sector
Huawei, in partnership with Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), launched its first Global Educational Demo Site in Thailand on Wednesday during Huawei Connect 2022 in Bangkok.
This collaborative initiative aims to enhance SWU’s positioning as an educational leader and an “Innovative University.” It has built a digital transformation benchmark for universities in Thailand and the region.
Located at the Prasarnmit campus of Srinakharinwirot University, the newly opened digital demo site showcases SWU’s successful experience in smart education transformation, using Huawei’s campus network solution that provides Wi-Fi 6 technology, full campus coverage, wireless access and free mobility “anytime, anywhere”, with secure, efficient and energy-saving data centers, storage and Cloud.
Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., will invest high-quality resources to ensure stable operations of the demo site that will serve as a benchmark to assist the digital transformation of other universities.
The demo site, which includes a meeting room, data center, O&M center and a smart classroom, will target high-level education institutions not only in Thailand, but also in the Asia-Pacific region. Education experts, university professors and government agents could enjoy on-site visits, service demonstrations, and business peer exchanges at the demo site.
Collaboration between Huawei Thailand and SWU started in May 2018, with a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to upgrade the university’s ICT infrastructure to support the use of educational applications on its two learning centers – Prasarnmit and Ongkharak. Now completed and fully operational, the Huawei Cloud Campus Network and iMaster NCE Campus solutions enable SWU’s students and professors to enjoy full Wi-Fi coverage anytime, anywhere within the university’s two campuses, as well as use the latest digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data.
Mr. Vincent Liu, President of Huawei’s Global Enterprise Network Marketing & Solutions Sales Department said: “Huawei’s Intelligent Multi-Service Network Solution for Higher Education is a great fit to build a future-proof education and research network for Srinakharinwirot University (SWU). This new network fully meets the complex network requirements of SWU by offering campus-wide network connectivity, multi-network convergence, and high-speed interconnection. The resulting benefits include efficient data sharing, service visualization, and efficient event control, ultimately providing high-quality data services for teachers and students.”
“We are delighted to expand our cooperation with Srinakharinwirot University, which demonstrates its vision to continue being a role model in the digital transformation of universities in Thailand and the region,” said Mr. Aaron Wang, Vice President of Huawei APAC Enterprise Business Group, “Together with SWU, we have built a state-of-the-art resource site dedicated to education that will bring win-win results for both parties in the long term.”
“Srinakharinwirot University’s management and academic personnel are extremely happy to welcome Huawei’s Global Demo Site at its Prasarnmit campus,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchai Santiwattanakul, President of Srinakharinwirot University.
“As part of our strategic plan, we made it a priority to develop our ICT infrastructure to become an ‘Innovative University’ and enhance the quality of education. Our collaboration with Huawei now enables our students and professors to enjoy the latest digital technologies and benefit from new teaching methods for a cutting-edge educational experience. I would like to thank Huawei Thailand for this great opportunity that will enable SWU to enhance its reputation as an innovative university and a leader in the field of education,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somchai.
Huawei aims to help accelerate the digital journey of education by accompanying institutions of higher learning through innovative methodologies and resources that will ensure the deep integration of teaching and technology. The digital upgrade of the education industry will be instrumental in the development of diversified talent for a prosperous digital ecosystem in Thailand and the region.
The announcement was made during Huawei Connect 2022, the global tech leader’s annual flagship event, that was held from September 19-21 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok. Themed “Unleash Digital”, this year’s Huawei Connect brought together more than 8,000 speakers and experts from the ICT industry to explore how the trending digital technologies like cloud, AI, and 5G can be practically applied in different industry scenarios to fully unleash their value.
