Huawei supports Thailand to accelerate Smart Education With Exclusive Online Innovation Tour

Huawei held an exclusive event entitled “Thailand Smart University Exclusive Forum”, gathering more than 80 executives and key stakeholders from 14 top universities across Thailand, with the purpose of sharing insights and best practices related to using online platforms to enhance smart education. The event invited for the first time a group of Thai president-administrators to visit the Huawei headquarters remotely, offering them a deep dive into a university setting using modern technology, “Shenzhen Universal City Town”. This event aims to showcase best practices that can support educational institutions to improve their infrastructure readiness for the digital era.

Mr. Abel Deng, CEO, of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. emphasized that, although the COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot uncertainties to our society, it has also created a new window of opportunity, especially for the acceleration of digitalization in various sectors and industries.

Over the past decade, education has become increasingly personalized and hybrid. With the rapid development and adoption of new ICT technologies, the education industry is seeing the inevitable deep integration of teaching and technology.

With new digital models emerging across the board — in classrooms, research labs, and administrative offices — intelligence and the cloud, 5G, Big Data and AI are increasingly impactful on education, supported by fresh innovations in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) that are completely transforming the education industry towards an increasingly digital model.

ICT-based education is nowadays applied to a variety of aspects, such as teaching, scientific research, and campus management. New technologies like big data and cloud computing are gaining increasing popularity in the education industry, changing both education models and ICT development.

At the “Thailand Smart University Exclusive Forum”, the executives visited Huawei ICT Exhibition Hall, a newly renovated innovation center at Huawei headquarters, showcasing the latest technology for the preparation of the entire information technology infrastructure. It exhibits comprehensive software, hardware and solutions to meet the challenges of modern learning, including Suzhou Lab, a cloud innovation technology laboratory for information communications.

The administration group from Thailand visited Shenzhen University Town, the only research-focused university in China certified by the Ministry of Education and co-managed by local governments and leading universities and the first educational institution in China to build smart networks with the latest Wi-Fi technology standards.

“Shenzhen University has one of the most technologically advanced university campuses in the country, an intelligent campus supported by Huawei technology.is now one of the most technologically prominent cities in the country and is also a science intelligent campus unique to Huawei technology, which has the idea of creating a smart campus. The network can be easily used in one step, both in the user’s angle, both teachers and students, while in the network administrator’s angle, it can be easily managed on a single dashboard with Huawei Wi-Fi 6 technology,” said Mr. Sun Tao, Director, Network Information Center, University Town of Shenzhen.

The tour and the technology presented were received with great interest from the participants, who were able to see the value in introducing more digital technologies in Thai universities for enhancing the educational level in the country.
